SLUM AND SIGHTSEEING TOUR
On this tour you have the whole day to do the Long Tour in
the morning (go to Dharavi, passing areas of interest en route such as a boys′ shelter,
the red light area Kamathipura, and the big open air laundry Dhobi Ghat). In the afternoon we will
show you the other, more traditional sights that Mumbai has to offer.
This tour is individually designed for you, and you can do and see as little or
as much as you please. The tour guide, who also has detailed knowledge of the more traditional
sights, will be with you for the day. He will explain what you can do, and then it is
completely up to you.
We tend not to visit sites in the Colaba area (where most tourists stay)
since most tourists prefer to explore these in their own time and at their own pace on foot.
Cost
Cost is Rs 5,400 total for up to 5 people. For those people
staying in Bandra, Juhu, the Airport area and the suburbs of Mumbai, please note the additional charges
(discussed below).
*NB Please note
that for those staying north of Mahim, such as Juhu, Bandra, Airport area, we have to travel further to these areas for pick up/drop,
so we charge an additional Rs 500 for Juhu
and Airport hotels, and Rs 200 for Bandra. For other areas, please enquire.
As per all our tours, we have a NO TIPS POLICY. The guides
are paid a good wage and are rewarded on the basis of the questionnaires which we ask everybody to fill out after
the tour

Food and drinks
For a supplementary fee of Rs 200 per person, we will provide all food
and drinks (non-alcoholic!)
on the tour, including lunch which we normally have
at a very nice vegetarian restaurant in Worli (you choose what you want from the big selection on the menu).
We find that customers
prefer this all inclusive price.
If you do wish to pay separately, this is fine. If you would rather eat different kind of food,
then we can suggest other suitable restaurants according
to your taste and budget.
Timings Tours normally start at 8.30am although we can start later if you wish.
The tour lasts 9 hours including lunch.
Tours run seven days a week including Sundays and public holidays.
On Sunday and public holidays,
the nursery school and some of the small businesses are closed.
Despite that, there is plenty to see and one still gets a very good idea of the Dharavi
slum- both the business and residential areas.
